Back in the cold and icy
Nov. 26th, 2023 04:44 pmYesterday I returned home from Hawai'i, visiting my brother, my sister-in-law, and my fur-nephews. I got into my car at the park-n-ride, turned on defrost, and for the first time since I bought the car I used the heated-seat option. I now understand why people who love those, love them. I was still dressed for Hawai'i (except for the sweatshirt) and FUCK ALL WAS I COLD.
We (the Dad-unit) and I had a great time. We stayed in a nice vacation rental that was really close to The Sib's house, and we did some stuff every day - but most evenings were for spending hours at Sib's house, munching on food and playing cards and dice and helping them socialize their new kittens. Yes, we went to a lu'au, and yes we wore matching Hawai'ian print shirts, and it was a good show with good food. But the best bits, in my opinion, were: visiting a smallish local zoo, sitting and picnicking on a cliff with waves smashing the rocks below and occasionally dusting us with spray, and of course, holding and petting and cuddling the kittens. So every day had at least one "best thing", which to me makes a great vacation.
And now I'm going to do my laundry. And I should unpack the suitcase at some point.
I spent a bit of coin on Small Business Sunday (I was travelling Saturday, so get off me) even though my biggest-dollar purchase was several organization-carts at Ikea. (Makeup. Lots of makeup. Purple blushes, blue and green eyeshadows, orange and hot pink eyeliners, and purple lip colors. Fsck beauty standards, I'm here to stand out.)
